Subcortical fracture and posterior lateral corner injuryBy Markus HolzhauerHistory: 20 y old male with injury playing soccer to the right knee. Patient has pain lateral more than medial joint. Findings:
:: MRI 2 ::Small 1 cm subcortiacl fracture, best seen on T1 weighted SE squence
:: MRI 1 ::Kissing contusion medial anterior femoral condyle and medial anterior tibia plateau - kissing contusion due to hyperextension seen on T2PD weighted sequences
:: MRI 3 ::Injury to the posterior lateral corner involving the fbular collateral ligament and biceps tendon and associated fluid collection. T2PD sequence.
:: MRI 4 ::Injury to the postero lateral corner inolving the fibular collateral liigament and the biceps tendon. T2PD sequence.
:: MRI 5 ::Unremarkable appearance of the popliteal tendon Discussion: Hyperextension injury causing "kissing contusion" anterior medial femoral condyle and soft tissue injury to the posterior lateral corner. Posterior lateral corner is critical in regard of stability of the joint and early surgery is oftern indicated.
